about

An original filk song inspired by a legendary roleplaying game story. For context: www.netfunny.com/rhf/jokes/98/Jul/gazebo.html

lyrics

a party of adventurers
rode out to fight one day
with many victories behind them
& many dragons yet to slay
with a mighty righteous paladin
as the leader of their band
not a monster born could match them
as they traveled distant lands

but the paladin stopped suddenly
his vigilance increased
as he saw himself confronted
with a fierce & vicious beast
he called out to it in warning
but no answer could be heard
his party smirked & traded glances
but did not exchange a word
they just said

(chorus)
"oh, dear fearless leader
take caution & beware
if you attack the fearsome monster
you see lurking over there
in the deepest, darkest dungeons
never shall you walk alone
but if you face the dread gazebo
you will do it on your own"

so he shot it with an arrow
but the creature would not yield
he approached with his sword brandished
& he bashed it with his shield
but the beast could not be wounded
so he made a swift retreat
only to find his companions
poking fun at his defeat
they all said

(chorus)

so the moral of this story
as our paladin has learned
is when the rogues & bards start snickering
maybe you should be concerned
don't rely on sword or magic
cause it doesn't matter which
when the gamer's greatest weapon
is still Webster's unabridged
so we'll sing

(chorus x2)

Beth Kinderman & the Player Characters Minneapolis, Minnesota
